I need some help identifying some native plants. This is just the start, because it isn't far enough into spring to see much live plants lol. Btw just so you all know, these plants are in east central ky.

Any help in these pics would be greatly appreciated, I understand that you might not be able to identify, due to all the mud and algae, but I thought I'd give it a shot lol:

Thank you very much.

4 looks like maybe a ludwigia sp of sorts and 5 is possibly a rotala sp. just based on leaf shapes and my best guess.

Ludwigia would be a good guess as that genus is native to north america. Rotala is a SE Asian plant, if it's here, it's invasive, and I doubt it would survive the winter anyway.

Was the plant in the 3rd and 4th pics growing submerged? That looks like emersed growth to me. The plant could look completely different if it was growing emersed vs. submersed.

That's not "bubble algae" in the saltwater sense, but there are lots of different types of FW algae, and I'm sure some of them grow in that shape. Could also have been a sheet of algae that has a trapped bubble in it.

Thanks. The plant found in the 3rd and 4th pic was all the way underwater. I'll have to look for it again to see if its still alive sometime soon.
