Lighting for a 30g tank

Hello-

I have a 30g tank, 36" x 12". I want better lighting (currently a single strip 20W light on glasstop), but don't want to do CO2. After reading a couple of threads I was determined to go with something like a 65W light, but all of the light fixtures with this wattage are only 30" long- Anything 36" are all 96W, and I'm afraid that's too much light for what I want. Threats of algae problems on the thread really scares me off- Too lazy for retrofits also-

Any suggestions?

A quick glance at www.drsfostersmith.com shows a 36" light strip (dual fluorescent tubes) that's listed at 30W - I think that's per bulb? If so, that's pretty close to what you want.
