i was wondering how good a light i have i have a coral life light it has a 96 watt 50/50 bulb in it my corals have been doing great but was wondering if the light is good enough for most corals i have a 45 gallon tank.

more info my light has two blue light and two white its a 36" fixture

I'm confused with how many lights you have on it...

If it's the light I'm thinking of, it has 2x 96W compact fluorescent bulbs, with two separate switches? If so, that's the same light I have. That will work for just about all LPS corals, soft corals, and a very few of the less light demanding SPS corals as long as you place them up high in the tank.

If it only has a single 96W bulb, that's not much light - even for LPS.

I just want a Metal halide, then I won't have to worry about this stupid lighting dilemna.

yes mine has two bulbs of each but only one switch for the whole thing

So, the white and the blue come on at the same time? What kinda corals you wantin' to keep?

acropora ,not real? sure but yes my lights come on at same time
