I have. 3 hi fin male platys and 2 female swordtails I just found out they can mate not something I want to get into but if it happens I would like to be prepared as I know if I just leave them all in the tank the fry will be killed but if one of my swordtails do end up pregnant its a challenge I want to take. So I need all the advice I can get thank in advance

One of my swordtails had babies yesterday 18 of them and 3 survived put her in a breeder trap 24 hrs before she is ready to pop they get a black spot near there anal fin called a gravid spot so look out for that and once she has her first batch she wont stop as they can hold the sperm!

Your best bet is to set up a 10gal and place mom in there when the time has arrived. Remove her once the young are born. If you use live baby brine shrimp or decapsulated brine shrimp eggs in 3-4 weeks they should grow to a safe size to aff tothe other tank.
