Mini cycle??

Help! I think my tank is going through a mini cycle. The ammonia is almost at 0 but my nitrite is pretty high. Should I just be doing water changes daily, until it's cycled completely?
I have a young axolotl in there and I want to make sure he's ok!

Yes (or as much as possible, I know it gets to be a grind). Seachem prime will detoxify nitrites (or just add a small pinch of salt (NaCl) to protect fish from brown blood disease).
