Hey,
Im highly considering turning my old 47 gallon tall fish tank into a reef tank. In terms of items all I have is the actual tank, stand and light. So my question is what would be the minimum items i would need to successfully keep a reef tank out of this. Obviously heaters and live rock/live sand is pretty necessary but in terms of filtration what could i get away with if im just keeping a couple of clowns and a few other small fish and some corals?

Thanks in advance

It will depend on the type of corals you are wanting to keep. The most important thing is to be patient nothing good happens fast when it comes with reef tanks, You will want to get a refractometer and if you can a RODI unit it is a lot cheaper to have your own water instead of buying it,
