Moonlights

I have a light from an old tank that has a moon light setting. I put it on the top of the glass canopy and turned it on just to see what it would look like. TO be honest, I didn't really think the fish would like it seeing how they are in the light for 10 hours a day but when I turned it on it was the opposite, they all gravitated toward it. I am thinking about getting another one so it lights the whole tank at night. If I was to do that, will the blue LED lights promote algae growth or no?

No, they will not promote algae growth. I have used moonlights on a lot of tanks, and not used them on a lot of tanks, and the fish don't really seem to care either way.
