Is there anything that I can do to save them, besides taking the Dottyback out of the tank?

nope nto really. if you have a sump with a fuge you can put the dottyback i nthere for a while and then re introduce it to the system, but it might not stop. it all depends on the fish

It is a nice looking fish so I want to keep him in the main tank, I guess I will just have to learn to live with his eating habits.

then that might be your issue, you can look into some electric blue legged hermit crabs (blue knuckle)

Dottybacks are just a pretty mean fish for their size, they get territorial towards new fish additions too.

I haven't had any problems with fish, just crabs that I added.
