And they recently picked up a ton of new corals! She was nice enough to let me frag some of the larger sps colonies and take some home! These are the ones that i chose, along with a green/yellow monti cap but i have no idea what these actually are! Im thinking that the purple one is some kind of birds nest? But the polyps look different. Please let me know what you think!ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1410901577.439691.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1410901629.502927.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1410901684.966547.jpg

The first and second appear to be montipora digitata or a closely related branching monti. The last may be A. millepora but it really needs to grow out more.

Are the needs of these corals similar to those of acroporas?

Basically, yes. But monti are much hardier and forgiving than acros. I've had an acro die from an alk drop where I have a monti that totally bleached out from a power outage to come back and continue to grow/thrive.
