Mystery stuff growing in my rocks?

I have a 20 gallon reef that im setting up. Its been going for 2 weeks. I have no ammounia but i do have a 5ppm spike in nitrite that im waiting to turn into nitrate. I keep it at 78.6 degrees and salinity at 1.023 using distiller water and the last few days i havr been have this brown stuff growning on my live rock and dry rock now spots on my glass. Just wondering what it is. Its deffidently growing. Anyone know what it is. And my ph is 7.8 i cant seem to get it up further

Diatoms. Will go away when the silicates are consumed from the sandbed.

Yes, it is something every one of our tanks goes through until the silicates are gone.
