New filter

I have a twenty gallon tank, with a top fin 20 filter. I got my filter in a kit, so its kinda crappy. Its starting to not pull its weight, so I will be getting a new filter, an Api Hob filter.. how do I replace the filters? I dont have enough room for two to run at the same time, and I am afraid if both ran at the same time they would short out something in the house. Lol

If there is room, transfer the entire contents of the old filter to the new one. This will preserve your cycle. If you cannot, I would highly suggest running both so you do not cause a mini cycle in your tank. I'm doubting 2 filters would cause a short, if you really worry, run one with an extension cord to a different wall outlet.
