Wanted to introduce myself as a new member..

Name is Adrian from south africa,just purchased a tropical freshwater tank for my daughter and about to get it set up.

Any basic advice to get me started.

Cleaning gravel/sand
Getting water ready for fish
Plants

Im sure this site will help my family and i maintain a healthy and beautiful tank

fishkeeping is a great hobby, not as easy as people think, but you've come to the right place for tips and advice.

a good place to start would be learning about is how to cycle your fishtank and 'new tank syndrome'. that's the key to success when setting up a new tank.

after that you can start researching the fish you are interested in keeping, to see if they are suitable for your tank size and compatible to live together.
