on Thursday last week I got a new Bolivian ram to be friends with my male. in the store I sexed it as a female. once added to the 65g tank the male became aggressive chasing the female. They are more friendly now after a small rescape to change up territorys the male also seldom chases the female aggression is no longer the problem. the female is very dark charcoal-pencil lead coloured, she has white stringy poop and wont eat she rest on the bottom lots. I think she has Hexamita.
what do I do.:(
for I have the slightest clue.
I can put her in a 10g quarantine to medicate if needed.
should I post a pic.

Charcoal dark is probably due to the stress. I have a few gourami and discuss that lost their colour and became charcoal. They were chases after by my rams or Angels.

According to google, hexamita is the hole in the head disease.

But why is the poo stringy and white? Is it because she hasn't eaten? She has had the chance to eat pellets and blood worms an inch away but she hasn't gone for them.

I talked to a LFS about my ram problem. She said that it sounds like a parasite and that medication should be used. The ram is in a 10g quarantine tank, sponge filter, floating plants and some decor for hiding.
I am dosing API general cure for parasitic diseases. I'll keep updating progress.

I will look for some metro flakes when I go to the LFS tomorrow.
There has been no change in the ram.
Would adding salt help?

Ya the LFS had none. I got some frozen blood worms, she took interest in the new food but I didn't see her eat any. (Hopefully she had some while I was away.) The store had frozen blood worms in the tank she was in when I bought her. I add the second packet of meds later tonight. Wish me and my fish good luck. :)

My angel will only eat blood worms. I think it likes it when they splash the water. I thaw them in tank water. I may have to try splashing some med flakes in...

That sucks... My angel probably needs killing too.

I euthanized her late last night. My advice for your angel; if it won't get better and is not suffering let it live, but the second it starts to suffer...

Do what is best.

It doesn't appear to be in any pain & does eat a blood worm now & then. But I've never seen one that skinny. Plus its feelers look lifeless. I had a ram go down the same road, & I knew when it was time with it. I'm going to wait it out. But I hear what you're saying...

How did u do it. If u don't mind me asking?

Yeah, that's what I hear. I've been putting them in freezer. I didn't know I was supposed to be using freezing cold water. My angel actually chewed up a metro flake last night! I dunno may be too little too late. Fingers crossed.
