New tank! Need suggestions!!!

55 gallon monster in my room photo attached. Thinking cichlids, alllllllll suggestions and advice welcome!!!! Need ideas on which cichlids work well together and decorative actions

Nice tank. Cichlids is a good way to go. I'd look into getting a 3d background or paint it black first off, since it's not easy to do later. The black substrate will work nicely.

Stocking wise, do a google for 'lake Victoria haps'. Pundamilia nyererei (Ruti Island) is one of my favourites and should go well with your tank size.

I think the easiest way to get started is by going to the lfs seeing what is easily available and what you like and go from there, that'll really dictate the aquascaping that you need to do.
