Hi everyone, love this forum! Just set up a 50 gallon bow front and was wondering if this is enough room for a couple electric blue cichlids? Set up tank a week ago, fishless cycle with gravel from 30 gal community tank. It's looking ready. LFS has a male/female pair @ 25 bucks a fish. Was hoping the tank would be big enough to keep them happy. I wanted to showcase only a few fish. What are your opinions? Thanks for taking the time to read this!

IMO there's not enough horizontal swim space in there for a haplochromine like the electric blue, if you want some sort of lake Malawi cichlid I would stick with the smaller Mbuna like labs or saulosi.

similar to the electric blue is an mbuna that is called powder blue cichlid or metriaclima estherae (cobalt blue zebra). its very pretty and ime likes any tall swimming space. look at peacocks, not mbuna but are awesome, look at random mbuna and check out discus too - pretty and would suit the tank!
