Hi everyone,
My names Mark I am from UK and been a fish keeper for a year now, it's been a very big learning curve with many failures but I am improving and now seeing the rewards for my efforts.
At the moment I want to propagate Java Ferns, so my question is do I have to separate the leaf with roots from the parent or can I layer it into the substrate like outside in the garden?.
Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site. I'm pretty sure that you need to take the roots when replanting. You can also wait for a new plant to grow on the back of one of the leaves. Cut it off, again with the roots and replant it in the substrate.

Thanks Sara, I will try cutting the leaf at the new plant and replant in the substrate.
