Old McCoyotes pod farm

Gonna grow some pods for me and the LFS. Have phyto paste ordered (low glycerin) which I will freeze into little ice cubes. http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/c6/Nannochloropsis-Algae-Paste-Greenwater-c34.html
Have a sponge filter and a dark blue bucket setup. Small led light and a ball of chaeto for any adults I end up with. Will report and take pictures when it starts.

I live in the mid west, and I don't think I will have that many buckets going at the same time. If this first batch goes well I may reconsider.

I use to raise brine shrimp when I was breeding discus and angelfish but have gotten out of the habit for SW.

Just started first culture and froze the left over paste into ice cube trays. Will report progress as water clears. Paste had to be thinned with RO water. It is too sticky to come out of the ice cube trays even when frozen.

Thinning it didn't even work. I am going to freeze it into sheets in a zip lock. It doesn't work in the plastic ice trays.

Have you tried the flexible silicone ice cube trays? Should be easy to remove anything from them.

Phyto cleared up on schedule. Added more water and more paste. Pods are accumulating nicely.
