Yes, you can boil it in a dishwasher or bathtub. If not just wrap several plant weights to anchor the wood
 
What does sandblasting do to the wood?
 
Ah makes sense. Didnt think about that. Ok I will look into manzanita wood.

Thanks, i also used java moss and attached them to the wood as you can see in the pic and i only have light on the left side. Hopefully tomorrow i can add the frogbit as my floating plant

Only plants i used other than java moss is the corkscrew & jungle vals
 
Long time for an update for this tank...

well I am somewhat set on my stocking for this tank:

15x Rummynose Tetra
10x Green Neon Tetra
1x Green Phantom Pleco

I may have something else. Maybe a GBR but I am unsure as of yet. This is going to be a very slow build due to my coral tank taking all my money/time.
