Hey guys! I need to know the basic care of an ornate bichir! Oh and wish me luck with the bichir!

There are tons of guides to keeping bichirs, Ornates will follow right in line with it. Depending on if it is wild caught or captive bred the feeding regimen could be different at first. My wild caught Ornate was eating within 2 hours of being introduced to my tank (some will not eat for up to two weeks). He is a pig, be sure to feed a varied meaty diet. I feed Hikari Carnivore pellets, Tilapia Fillets, Raw Shrimp, Red Worms, Krill and occasionally Beef Heart.
Ornates really seem to like plants. I have a mixture of live and fake plants and he prefers floating in the fake bamboo plants, or hiding under driftwood.
