Can I keep a live plant in my filter? If so, what plant would be best and would I need any chemicals to help keep it alive?

Will I need special lighting to grow plants in my filter? The only lighting my tank gets is the light from my Beamswork tank light and I also leave my bedroom light on whenever I'm home

Most use plants that do well off ambient lighting. But there so many things you can do here. Imagination is all it takes. You can also use shower caddy, air line suction cups, anything.

I use pothos in both my tanks youve seen them I just stick it in

I use pothos also. They suck the nitrates down to zero. In my new build I am going to have one compartment of my sump dedicated to pothos. Oh and you can't kill the stuff either. It is called "devils ivy" for a reason.
