Pool Filter Sand

I just purchased some pool filter sand from a local pool supply store. It's called Silver Sand #20 by PW gillibrand Company. The shop confirmed that this was pool filter sand and that it can be used for aquariums. Anyone know if this is ok? Also, what does the "#20" represent?

#20 is the size of grit of the sand.

It's fine, that's the standard grain size for pool filters.
