Hey all,
I have a 55 gallon currently set up as a tropical aquarium, and last night I got the notion to make a local biotope paludarium. It would use, exclusively, plants, fish, and animals collected locally from the Tacoma, WA area.
Has anyone done anything like this before?
Any thoughts, suggestions, potential problems?
Obviously, I would call the Department of Fish and Game before collecting anything.

So it's almost been a year since this post. How did it go? I'm very interested in this post.

Moved twice, changed careers, and got a rommate. In other words, downsized my ambitions. I now have a very eclectic 40 gallon paludarium, my 55 gallon reef, and a 2 gallon betta tank.
I'm not happy with the paludarium because it was built in a hurry and on a budget so I'll probably tear it down and redo it from scratch sometime this year.
Currently houses 3 swordtails, 3 albino cories, 1 bolivian ram, and 1 fire bellied toad.
Thanks for the interest though!

I m not the only one that had to go Google paludarium , right? Saw some cool pics!
