Powerhead problem

I got a powerhead to distribute co2. Does the job but many days I get home and it's not working because there's a tiny piece of leaf stuck in it.

I tend to remove what loose leaves I can daily when I feed so not much more I can do there.

Any tips?

I tend to have my tanks on in the evening after I'm home to combat several potential issues..

Put a sponge around the intake?

I run at night too but it's usually still been on a while when I get home.

I am guessing a sponge will impact the flow of the p head?
