Hello,

I'm having trouble with my anubias in my 55 low tech tank

Using flourish 2x weekly
Flourish potassium 2x weekly
Daily excel

The leaves are getting brown spots on them and I'm not sure why. I assume it's something to do with nutrients but I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks a lot.

It's hard to tell, but it looks like algae growth on them. I say that because I have a similar looking issue and I know mine is algae.

It's not algea it it's actually the leaf, the tank is fully planted with no other algea, I've also tried wiping it off with no success I'll try taking more pictures

The problem only starts after they've grown the new leaves don't start off looking bad

The spots seem more like they are thin and dying but they don't die of they just look bad I've left some for weeks before trimming them off

I have a bn pleco, horned nerite and a mystery snail they take care of any algae that does occur. Looking at leaves I've trimmed before the problem is in the leaf structure itself it's not topical. That's why I'm confused at first I thought it was algae aswell now I'm thinking maybe a nutrient problem but I don't know.

Can you trim a leaf and take a good picture? Up close and clear. Maybe it's iron?

Will trim and post once I get out of work

What other plants do you have? In my opinion, if you have all low light plants, you shouldn't dose flourish at all, let along twice a week.

How often do you do water change? And how much?

Sorry to bombard you with so many question, I'm not trying to be nasty.

I have 4 jave ferns
2 anubias (both with the same issue)
Water sprite
Wisteria
Argentine sword
A crypt
And Christmas moss

My plants have reacted to the flourish quite well I used to only dose weekly.

I do a 25 percent weekly change

Lights are 2 32 watt tubes in a shop light

I looked at the leaf I trimmed abd rubbed it all I could nothing came off it isn't an algae it is the leaf itself not doing well almost pitted.

Also the leaves are usually only a week or so old when it begins to happen

Do the leaves actually die or is it just unsightly?

No other plants seem to have any adverse effects or blemishes? Fish are healthy?

You can't rub off green spot algae. I'm 99% sure it's green spot algae. How long is your light left on for?

Light on 8 hours a day off 4 on 4 off

Fish healthy

Other plants are all doing great with no algae issues

If it is algae why is it causing craters in the leaves?

The leaves don't die but they don't look nice either

I looked up green spot algae it does look a lot similar

I also get some on the glass I get some sunlight on the tank which may cause that problem do you think I should lessen my light time?

If you are able to block of as much sunlight as possible that will definitely help.

Yes, try 6 hours of light per day! More than enough with the plants you keep!
