Pulling Plants Up

Just a quick question, my substrate is like regular gravel. If I'm pulling up the plants to trim them. Is this doing a lot of damage to them? I'm not damaging the roots as far as I know.

When trimming plants, you shouldn't have to be pulling up on them. Just trim as close to gravel level as possible. Try to trim before planting and they should root before next trimming.
