I want to recharge my Purigen. I've seen videos on how to do it but does anyone know how much bleach to use. Also how much Prime to use when treating the Purigen bags?

If you've done it with success let me know

Soak in a 1:1 bleach to water solution for 24 hours in a plastic container. Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours in clean water containing 2 tablespoons of Prime then rinse very well.

Here we go. Following your instruction Jedi Hukit.

What about the soaking in ph balancer after the bleach per the instructions? Is it necessary?

Then follow them carefully young Padawan and you'll be fine.

Finished soaking in the bleach.. Rinsed it out and now it's soaking in Prime water. Does it still smell a little bleachy after?

Before and after

Looks clean to me, I don't think I've ever not had a hint of bleach after I'm done recharging a bag?

Yeah it looks a lot clean. It isn't a strong smell of bleach... Just freaks me out to think about all my fish dieing!

Well I'm happy to report that we survived the night. All fish are alive and well.

Yeah I have done it a couple times on my saltwater tank. I have never had a problem but it still freaks me out everytime I put it back in.

Soaking in a ph balancer after the bleach, needed? Or not needed? Thanks. Nice fish!

I didn't .. I soaked in bleach, rinse, then prime soak, then rinse. I didn't use a ph balance because my fish are in 7.5+ ph and it's about the same as the tap water I rinsed it in.

Looks good, why kind of diet do you have him on?

All my fish get NLS pellet (cichlid formula and Thera A) and NLS optimum flake (sprilina) .. Once or twice a week San Francisco Bay blood worm cubes.
