My PH is normally about 7.4. When I got a little school of Pygmy corys, the LFS said I should try to lower the ph to 6.5 ideally. Peat did seem to bring it down, everyone settled in (been about a month) but I'm wondering if it would be better to not mess with the peat and just strive for consistent ph vs lower ph. I have another tank with panda cories, and they do just fine with the 7.4. Thanks for your advice!

My cories have been doing just fine in 8.2

For the most part, ph is irrelevant. Consistency is key to all fish. If you use tap water, then continue to only use tap water and all of your fish will adapt and be fine.

It is much better and less stressful on the fish to keep a stable pH than strive for a perfect one. If the store uses the same city water as you they are already used to it.

Thanks, think I'm going to slowly ditch the peat.

I have a group of habrosus and pygmy cories very happily living in 7.5

Very much agree on not messing with pH (y)
