My answer may be stupid, but until you want and until he recovers..
Some fish recover faster than another. So i dont think there is really a FIXED time for it!

IMO no need to QT a fish with fin rot unless it requires medication.

If its a new purchase, i would qt the fish anyway. Mild cases of fin rot will heal on their own with healthy water (and perhaps the addition of salt if its a salt-tolerant species). More serious cases need to be addressed with meds.
