Question about Salt in Freshwater...

Salt without iodine can be used. There is no reason however except for treating disease. Fish that need a little salt would rather have the marine salt to make the water slightly brackish. Africans prefer hard water not salty water.
 
do you have plants? if so, you don't want to use salt. many species of plants cannot tolerate it.
