Is nitrates a big contributor to algea growth or is it just only harmful to fish and inverts?

Nitratesare certainly a nutritional source for some algeas. This is why some marcs are a god thing. They trie on the NO3 and reduce them at the same time. PO4 is also a major contributor in bad algeas.
