My air pump that came with my "gently used" 55 gal tank died last week. It was a top fin, rated for 50 gallon, 2 tube connects. It was not the quietest, but it was ok.
I replaced it with a tetra whisper 60, also 2 tube connects, and the thing is icredibly noisy. The tank is in our den, where we spend most our time, so I am really hoping to find another option.
I have a whisper 10 on a smaller tank in our bedroom, and it is virtually silent, so I am definitely bummed the larger model is so noisy?
What does everyone use for air pumps, and what seems to be the quietest option for a 55gallon running 2 air stones? Should I maybe just go with 2 smaller pumps?
