Rainbow shark

I I'm going to get a rainbow shark. I want to get a less aggressive female. How do I tell the difference?

Good luck ... It may be a bit difficult to tell male from females in an LFS tank, but I did find this excerpt online.

To tell the male Rainbow Shark apart from the female the male has a black lined anal fin and is thinner.

The information is correct. The black stripe is very evident, although might not be so much in juvies.

Do you have a large enough tank for the rainbow? I'd recommend 75 minimum. I had to rehome mine to someone with 125. That was a sad day but it was the right thing for the fish.
