I have a 10 gallon tank with a rainbow shark and a marbled molly. I have had no problems until yesterday I noticed little snails. I know they can come form live plants but we have none. Just curious how they got in my tank and how they will effect the two fish we have.

Could be from your substrate. No they won't hurt your fish. Those fish will be hurt by being kept in a 10g tank though. Mollies are recommended 30g minimum. Rainbow sharks 50g minimum as they get 6 inches or more. I'd rehome so they are not stunted.
