Red empress fading

So I don't know what's going on with my empress he's the dominate fish in the tank and his color is fading! It's about time for a a wc could that be the issue? I know some of you have seen it before but if you haven't this was him about a week or two ago.

Sorry this is the wrong location I was browsing this section when I turned the lights on in my Malawi tank.
