They're called hitchhikers a for a reason They hitch a ride in somehow. Could have come in when he was young. Could have been hiding in a crevice. Who knows

Understand that the rock we fill our tanks with is filled with holes and crevices. Things can hid in them for years without anyone noticing at times just because they didn't feel like coming out for a long time. Most of the fiji rock that you can find at petcos, I have some in my tank, I swear is just millions of dime sized rocks glued together. To see the things pour out of it when introduced into a new system is incredible. I put one the size of about 2 softballs into a tank to watch 30 snails pour out of it.
