I cut off the top of a wisteria plant due to a algae out break and the fact it was to tall but kept the bottom because I wanted to see if it would grow back.

Now I see this. It seems it has roots growing out every few inchs and I am not sure why

What do I do with it now??

I have seen this behavior in other plants in my aquariums, and I'm generally not too troubled by it; the plant is already showing shoots here above the roots. It will rebound, hopefully quite nicely.

do you cut off the roots coming out or leave them? it does take away from the look of the plant

Your plant looks healthy and I do see new growth as Johnny mentioned. Many stem plants send out those "hair roots" and they can be clipped off without any harm. Whenever I trim my stem plants I pinch those roots off with my fingers.
