Ropefish and pleco

I have a 55 gallon tank with 1 ropefish 1 common pleco, 4 neon blue tetra, 4 beuno aires and 4 red fin tetra.

Lately my rope fish seems to have a lust for the pleco. He will swim all around him, rubbing up against the plecos belly. He glides by the plecos 2 smaller fins underneath and gently rubs them with his tail.

What is happening? Is he obsessed or does he have a fetish for the pleco? It just baffles me.

Maybe looking for a mate? But I would worry about the fish, in case they fit in his mouth, they may become food. They often open much larger than one would think. My angelfish ate Neons right in front of my eyes one time (and was removed)
