If your treating with any med you should be taking it out before hand

What's the use for carbon anyway?and y must it be replaced every month?

Helps get rid of med/chem, coloration of water, and odor.. Some people choose to keep in and some choose to take out.

I use a canister.cause ive had carbon in there for ages and I was told it's going to be doing more harm then good.

If im not mistaken i believe thats the case when carbon is old..
