skimmer AND hob filter

Is it too much to have a skimmer and a hob filter on my 20 gallon tank

Nope! You can hardly ever have enough filtration!

Will the skimmer work just as good with the hob or do they filter differently ?

I look at it that an HOB will take out particulate and matter and a skimmer will take out more of the chemicals and bad stuff in liquid form.

I run both too and it also helps in moving water.

That's what I thought. Tank is almost finished cycling and water is crystal clear
