small piece of DW won't sink! Help

I bought a small piece of driftwood in the reptile section of my LFS. Its just regular wood and I have soaked it for over a month and it won't sink. Will it ever sink?

It will eventually!!!

Do you have it weighted in the water? A fellow hobbyist shared this..... screw it to some slate with stainless steel screws and then bury the slate in the substrate!

I boiled mine to get it water logged...boil tilll it sinks...OR...you can also silicone/glue/screw slate to it....I have done both methods and both works perfectly fine
