I mainly want to know what it is so I can give it the right food, and to know it if will eat my soft coral, or any inverts I wish to add later, more specifically an octopus.
The last one looks like some related species to the red knoby sea star. Pretty sure those are coral munchers, so i would stay away from them. The top one sort of has the coloration of a sand sifting sea star.. but i'm not entirely sure. I wouldn't put anything in your tank that you don't fully know about. Wouldn't exactly be the greatest of ideas to put random sea stars in your tank. They could be aggressive to other inhabitants or even eachother.
I think it is the same star, just harder to see the knobs in the other pics.
I believe 0 is right, some color variation of a knobby sea star....What did the LFS callit?
I didn't notice at first but they do in fact look all like the same sea star lol. I think the first photo just has different lighting... making its color look like something it really is not.
