Stocking suggestions for my 40 gallon tall

Ok so I started a fowler tank for my friend. (It's a Christmas gift.) and I wanted some suggestions on fish. Was gonna stick to fish found around the Dominican republic since that is his and his wife's favorite place to vacation. With that being said what do you all suggest as far as livestock?

You can mix the rock up if you want. Since you have the time, get some dry base rock from your fish store (it's a lot cheaper) and mix it with live rock. Eventually the bacteria will spread to the base rock and become live rock. If your tank is 40 gallons, I would at least shoot for 40-60 lbs if not more just for bioload. A lot of people will go with 1-1.5 lbs of rock for FOWLR.
