Surviving fry freeswimming, what now?

So I have 4 surviving fry, in a small Tupperware pot, just wondering now I don't need to tumble, what's the protocol?

get a breeder box to float in the main tank so they have the filtered water and temp and bacteria etc to live. feed about twice a day powdered food or crushed flakes. then when old enough, add them to the community!

Well I had a marina breeder box, chucked them in that, floating in the top, and 3 managed to get down the gap between the trap and the main bottom of the box.. So ended up food, stupid thing, what's the point in a breeder box, that lets tiny fish escape?? Put the surviving one in a separate tank now, about 20litre, with air stone, and a fake plant, problem is, that one has no heater or filter... I used water from the main tank.. I just don't know what I'm going to do now... :/ stupid marina. Reeder box :'(

buy a breeder net, most companys advitise the plastic boxes as live bearer only because of the frys size sadly im sure u figured that out now....what sort of fry are they?

Breeder boxes are used to put an adult fish in so when she spits fry, gives birth or lays eggs the fry /eggs can go through the holes into the tank and not be eaten by the mother/father. So the type you have are not designed to keep fry in. The kind that are made of mesh/screen are to put fry in so they are not eaten.

The fry of mouthbrooders only need to be fed once their egg sack has been used up.

Mog, yeah it has the split part, but It also has like a floor piece, that blocks the slats so the eggs/fry don't fall into the tank, but the gap between the side and the floor piece allowed the fish to, with a wriggle, get through, and then through the slats into the tank...

I was thinking of just leaving it in the 20litre, buying a nano heater or filter.. And keep using water from the main tank.. Easier than a net

They are yellow lab fry btw..

im sorry. i call them breeder boxes because they arent netted.
i mean a plastic breeder fry cage, one that has very thin vents. your breeder box is designer for fry to escape so mums dont eat fry. mine is like this:

The larger the tank you can get to put them in the better, so the shifts in water parameters wont be to extreme and shock the lil fellas..

Well it's the largest I have available at the moment... So looks like he's staying in there... I have this air stone that has a filter sponge inside, I'll throw that in with him, and keep an eye on the temperature...

The net I purchased was about four bucks not much more than hosiery. How many fry do you have left?

So if you cover the smaller tank and keep it away from drafts that will help with temperature fluctuations

you can buy the knee high panty hoses in a two pack at wal-mart for under $1 that's what I use for my filter bags ect.

Surviving fry doing great... Just thought I'd update you all.. He's a lot bigger than he was... Eating well..
