I just recently got 2 gold swordtails. The male will sometimes seem to nip at the female if it gets too close to it. Is this a problem or nothing to worry about

I would add 2-3 more females so he won't pick on just her. What size tank do you have, though? Just making sure you'll have room for them and any fry that might come from them.

They might be having sex, that can sometimes look like nipping.

Yeah I had those once! Had a 4-1 ratio and the male did all of them in. Named him Hugh after Hugh Hefner.
