Tank light?

I got a 55 gal tank from a buddy. Was wondering if i could use a big 200 watt cfl. My question is would this light b ok for a heavily planted tank by itself or should i get side lighting also. I will post a pic later of the light and tank

I think looking at the light that you would not get very good coverage. Plants underneath the light would get plenty of good light, but the edges might require supplementation.
