I added several plants today, as well as some root tabs. I came home from work a few hours later and the water is brown. The fish seem to be fine, the nitrate, nitrite, ammonia levels are all within normal range. Has anyone ever had this experience?

Welcome to AA!

What size tank, and what kind of substrate? Some substrates can be pretty messy when planting...

I have a 20 gal. tank with regular aquarium gravel. It was up and running with fish (4 tetras and 5 danios) for a little over two weeks prior to putting in the plants. Prior to planting the water was slightly cloudy, but nothing like it is now. From what I've read, I'm inclined to believe it's the root tabs...

I did bury the tabs - most of them all the way to the bottom of the tank.
