Time to play name that coral

My wife brought home coral yesterday because it is pretty. But she did not know what it was or even a name. Without a name I can not look up how to care for it, so I am turning to you guys.


NAME THAT CORAL!

At least she is into the hobby! It's a start

Looks like a bleached out flower pot coral. Should be a brownish color.

That's what I was going with too... bleached Goniopora.

That's great that your wife is into the hobby, but it's probably a good time for "Lesson #1: No impulse buys." Researching before buying is a really really good habit.

The ends of the "flowers" or for the lack of a better word the "pedals" are not the same shape as the flower pots that I have looked up

If it's not Goniopora, try looking at pictures of Alveopora. I'm thinking it's one of the two.

Alveopora Coral, Branched

Either way they are supposed to be brownish red color.

It appears we have a winner. The 12 tenticles are there and the look seems the same.
