I lost 18 Cichlids today. I haven't touched my heater for months. But it went in overdrive last night and when I woke up this morning they were all dead. The temp was 95.Very disappointing! It is a 100 watt heater in a 55g should I toss the heater?

I had a heater do the same thing, and I took it out ASAP. Thankfully it was a betta tank, and they pulled through though. It got up to 97*!
If it's a Marineland heater, you can e-mail them and they will send you a replacement.

Sorry to hear that. I definitely wouldn't use the heater unless you have an external temperature controller. Hard to believe a 100W heater could actually heat up a 55g like that.
