Treating ich, question about apple snail and shrimp.

My 55 gallon tank has ich so prior to treatment I bought a 19 ltr quarantine tank with a basic fitler and small heater to put the apple snail and shrimps into. Obviously the small tank is not cycled so I am having to change water regular, but still the apple snail does not look too happy. Have I done the right thing as I am treating the tank with Interpet anti white spot No 6. This contains formaldehyde and malachite green which I understand is harmful to snails and shrimps. Ant further advice anyone?
