Uv steriliser addition

My system is pump to waterfall, waterfall to filter.

I'm adding a UV inline to combat green water.

What would be the most logical and efficient set up?

Also would removing the sponges from around the pump be a good idea? They get clogged very quickly and the flow stops altogether. This is my fathers neglected pond so needs a lot of work.

I'd remove the sponges as long as your pump is designed to handle pumping solids. I intend to use a pump like this one which has a cage rather than sponges.

Another solution could be a fountain with a UV built in like this.
